Regional variations in percutaneous absorption of methimazole: an in vitro study on cat skin
The receptor medium was sampled up to 36 hours postapplication, and methimazole concentrations were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography. Methimazole was absorbed more completely across the pinnal skin, compared to the groin, neck, and thorax.

A standardised faecal collection protocol for intestinal helminth egg counts in Asian elephants, Elephas maximus
Free Full Text

We suggest that for the modified McMaster technique, a minimum of one fresh sample per elephant collected from any freshly produced bolus in the total faecal matter and at any point within a 7.5 hour time period (7.30am - 2.55 pm) will consistently represent parasite load.

A small-scale open-label study of the treatment of canine flea allergy dermatitis with fluralaner
Free Full Text

All dogs were flea-free at all post-treatment assessments except for one dog that had a single flea at the first post-enrollment assessment at 4 weeks. At the 4-week post-treatment assessment active FAD signs had resolved in all dogs; at 8 weeks post-treatment, two dogs showed mild signs. All clinical signs of FAD had resolved at the final assessment of 12 weeks after treatment.

Client Wants Prophylactic Doxycycline To Use When Dog Gets An Attached Tick
I would not dispense doxycycline like this. There's no indication for it. If the client is that concerned about tickborne disease, he needs to focus on tick prevention, not antibiotics.

Bisphosphonates will block osteoclastic activity, no matter what stimulates them.

I can't hear you....I said SUROLAN!
It's most likely the Polymyxin B component that has caused the problem. Did you report this adverse event to the FDA as well as to the manufacturer? Unless everyone reports, the manufacturer is unlikely to pull or reevaluate this product.

Got Staff?
The Veterinary Support Personnel Network (VSPN) was created specifically for your technicians, practice managers and other staff members to have access to their own message boards, chats and CE. We are also actively working on a VSPN-plus that will enable you, valued nonDVM staff, and all VINners at your hospital, to act more collaboratively with VIN and VSPN tools. To Curve or Not to Curve? When is the Question
June 29 - July 16, 2016

Performing and interpreting glucose curves provides the necessary information to determine best type of insulin as well as dose adjustments in a patient. However, performing curves isn't appropriate for every client. The goals of therapy are not the same for different patients and different clients. Adjunctive approaches to help clients care for their diabetic cat will be discussed.

Check the World Clock Time Zone Converter to confirm class start times for your area.
