Dogs developing severe adverse effects under treatment showed significantly lower basal MDR1 gene expression levels when compared with those who tolerated the drugs well.

Vinorelbine rescue therapy for dogs with primary urinary bladder carcinoma

Anatomical and Morphometric Variations in the Arterial System of the Domestic Cat
Based on the study of 56 preserved specimens, we observed three distinct arrangements in the branching pattern of the brachiocephalic artery. The most common pattern (52% of the examined specimens) was that in which the brachiocephalic artery was divided into two branches, the left common carotid artery and a common branch for the right subclavian artery and the right common carotid artery.

Possible Tumor In Cat's Lung: Interpreting Opacity In The Right Middle Lung Lobe
When I see a fluid/soft tissue opacity of the lung, I first ask what size is the lung lobe. Is it the same size I'd expect of a normal, aerated lung lobe? Then, the opacity itself -- does it conform to the shape of the lung, or does it bulge?

Would You Fire Previously Pleasant Clients Who Had Meltdown About Declaw And Accused Us Of Lying And Falsifying Records?
These people displayed unacceptable behavior to you and your staff. The fact that they then acted like nothing happened is even more telling that this is a *normal* behavior pattern for them. Get rid of them!

How Does The Professional Liability Insurance Trust (PLIT) Handle Claims?
The reason the PLIT does not want the insured to offer reimbursement is that the insured typically does it without securing a release. Without a release, the claimant can come back later and seek additional damages.

Stop Brachycephalism Now!
Hello again everyone. It has been a few years since I started speaking out against brachycephalism. On the one hand, I am seeing more and more articles and posts and even whole books berating society for what we have done to dogs and cats. I am also seeing more and more postings of horribly deformed animals wearing ridiculous costumes and getting millions of view because they are "so cute".

So, I am resurrecting this thread and plan to post news and resources here annoyingly often.

What Matters in the End: Geriatric Medicine, Euthanasia, and Compassion Fatigue
July 5 - 29, 2016

Although all veterinarians agree that old age is not a disease, it is a common reason why many families decide to euthanize a pet. Many pet owners will not seek out an actual diagnosis but the myriad of ailments fall under the excuse of "old age." Understanding how the body changes as an animal ages is important so that we can educate owners and treat pets appropriately. Doing so earlier in the pet's life may allow for a longer quality of life and prevent premature euthanasia.
