Temporally separated bilateral anal sac gland carcinomas in four dogs
This case series presents the outcome of four unique cases of unilateral anal sac gland carcinoma which subsequently developed contralateral anal sac gland carcinoma 50 to 390 days after removal of the initial tumour. Median survival was 1035 days after initial diagnosis and 807 days after diagnosis of the second anal sac gland carcinoma.

Zoonotic disease risk perceptions and infection control practices of Australian veterinarians: Call for change in work culture
No personal protective equipment (PPE) was used by 60-70% of veterinarians for treating respiratory and neurological cases and by 40-50% when treating gastrointestinal and dermatological cases. Workplace conditions need improvement as 34.8% of workplaces did not have isolation units for infected animals, 21.1% did not have separate eating areas for staff, and 57.1% did not have complete PPE kits for use.

Measurement of cortisol in dog hair: a noninvasive tool for the diagnosis of hypercortisolism
The determination of cortisol in hair offers the advantage that sampling is easier and less invasive than taking blood, urine, faeces, or saliva. Measuring cortisol in hair may represent a valuable tool for the diagnosis of hyperadrenocorticism in dogs.

General differentials for abdominal distension would include...

Use Of A Shock Collar In An Aggressive Dog; Resources For Educating Clients About Training Methods
I am sorry you had to go through this, but often people respond poorly when their judgement is called into question. In some cases, people actually do not like shocking their dogs, but if an "expert" tells them to, they do it.

Dog With Unilateral Hydronephrosis And Hematuria (Ultrasound Images, Radiographs)
With ureteral obstructions, ultrasound is a poor tool to tell if there is renal cortex left. The renal pelvis can stretch and the cortex can look like it is gone, but it may be back after an obstruction is fixed.

Dietary Protein Levels For Patients With Chronic Renal Disease
If you're getting 3-7 years with your renal failure patient population who does everything, conventional and complementary, and I'm getting 3-7 years with a patient population who resists conventional, but will do complementary, and the average general practitioner on the street is getting 3-7 years with straight conventional medicine, are any of us actually doing anything other than diagnosing?

      My Little Town
In the spirit of "The Best Thing to Happen Today" thread, I want to share my little town, Powell River, BC.

No matter how raw and ugly the rest of my life may become, the beauty of this little village on the edge of the Pacific Ocean always reminds me that the world remains a beautiful place. I wish I could catch some photos of the distant Island mountain chain with the Comox Glacier glistening white in the distance, but I have taken a hundred images of the breathtaking view and not one of them even comes close to the catching the true, overwhelming beauty of the view.

I challenge others to share that one place on earth closer to our heart than all else. Home.
