Knot Security of 5 Metric (USP 2) Sutures: Influence of Knotting Technique, Suture Material, and Incubation Time for 14 and 28 Days in Phosphate Buffered Saline and Inflamed Equine Peritoneal Fluid
Mechanical properties of suture materials have significant effects on knot security. For polydioxanone, square knot is insufficient to create a secure knot. Additional wraps above a surgeon's knot confer extra stability in some materials, but this increase may not be clinically relevant or justifiable. Glycolide/lactide copolymer had excellent knot security.

Effects of two calculolytic diets on parameters of feline mineral metabolism
Both diets resulted in an increased urinary concentration of magnesium, through different mechanisms: urine acidification (Diet 1) and increased sodium load (Diet 2).

Application of an ELISA Milk Pregnancy Test in Beef Cows
The milk pregnancy-associated glycoproteins (PAG) ELISA was accurate in predicting pregnancy status using milk collected from beef cattle between days 37 and 125 post-insemination and may be useful for aiding management decisions in beef herds.

Are Antihistamines Useful For Treating Atopy In Dogs And Cats?
In people, the "longer-acting" label is used for cetirizine, fexofenadine, and loratadine. Neither fexofenadine nor loratadine are helpful in veterinary patients, it seems.

Is It Legal To Do Free Physical Exams On My Employees' Pets?
The basic rule is that if you offer your employee a fringe benefit, it is considered a form of pay for the performance of services, so is taxable. To make it not taxable, it needs to...

Diet Recommendations For A Dog With Ammonium Acid Urate Uroliths; Does Adding Water To Diet Really Lower Urine Specific Gravity Or Just Make Dog Drink Less?
It has never made sense to me that feeding wet food will do anything other than make pet less thirsty for water.

Treatment For Antibiotic-Resistant Urinary Tract Infection In A Dog
I think it's now or never for trying to change the course. That would mean fixing the vulva and hoping it is a big contributor, heparin infusion for the bladder, and fecal transplant. Then, we would do D-mannose, cranberry, acupuncture, and hope.

Building Client Base
2013 grad, and I will tell you, it takes a good 18 months for this to really pick up, client-wise. At that point people you met a year ago are returning for annual physicals, etc. and you have had time to build some relationships. Two-and-a-half years out, I now have a reasonable contingent of "my" clients, but not surprisingly it's smaller than those of the doctors who have been there for 15 -16 years.
