Journal Club is Back! Evidenced-based medicine entails applying the most current research to our medical recommendations. However, few of us were formally trained to critically assess and use the information presented in scientific papers. The VIN Journal Club meets the first Thursday of each month to discuss important papers. Don't have access to the featured journal? We'll arrange to get you a copy of the article so you can still participate. Journal club is open to the entire VIN Community; come join the conversation! Discussions are led by a different VINner each month (often a VIN Consultant, but anyone can volunteer). Next session: Thursday, February 4 - 1 p.m. ET Can’t make the live session? Don’t worry – the transcript will be available the next day on the Journal Club page and the Recent Rounds section.
Ask Membership Services: If you’re within the message boards, the Post New and Reply windows will say "Logged in as…" with the member’s name. Most VIN pages have a Logout button near the top right. Logging out when you finish a session will keep you and your colleagues from accidentally impersonating each other. If you are composing a new post or replying to an existing one, you have an option in the center of that window to "click here to change user." If you need further assistance, the membership services team is here to help! Email vingram@vin.com any time or call Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. PT:
Browse the rest of the Membership FAQs!
You can also print a PDF and take it with you as you perform each procedure. Newest Addition: To suggest a procedure or contribute your own videos, please email Tony@vin.com.
Evolving stories: Be a VIN newshound: Share news.vin.com with non-VINners. The VIN News Service stories (without access to the community discussions) are publicly available. Follow VNS on Twitter! Send a Twitter request to receive the VNS Tweets.

To get your customized protocol, you'll be asked a short series of questions that will take from 5 to 10 minutes. Once you submit your answers, you'll receive an email with your protocol in PDF format. Find the tool in the Websites section of the Shelter Medicine Information Center. Discuss it with your fellow shelter veterinarians and other VINners here.
What I do not do yet, but will start tomorrow, is ask my clients and new clients what they think. I am interested in people's opinions on this.
