Keep Track of Your VIN Message Board Participation and VIN Searches
MyActivities (Ctrl+M) allows you to track and manage all of your message board and search activities in one place.

Forgot to save your search results to your MyStuff? Use the 'My Search History' tab to revive your search result -- and get a second chance to add it to your MyStuff.

If your MySubscriptions or MyDiscussions lists are getting a little cluttered, remove the ones you no longer want quickly and easily with a couple of clicks!

Access MyActivities through the link in the footer of most VIN pages or via the My Recent section on the main message board page -- or simply press CTRL+M (Control and M keys simultaneously) from anywhere on VIN.

Note: To use MyActivities you'll want to make sure your browser is set to allow pop ups from VIN. Learn how.

Can We Talk?
Some days are harder than others. Talking one-on-one with a sympathetic colleague can make a big difference. Michele Gaspar, DVM, MS, DAVBP, VIN Feline Medicine consultant and one of the VIN Foundation’s Vets4Vets program’s psychotherapists, is offering evening office hours via telephone Monday through Friday, from 10 p.m. - 11 pm ET. Two 30-minute slots are available each day. To arrange a call, email michele@vinfoundation.org.

A multicentre, prospective, randomised, blinded clinical trial to compare some perioperative effects of buprenorphine or butorphanol premedication before equine elective general anaesthesia and surgery
Free Full Text

Horses experienced less post operative pain after buprenorphine than after butorphanol premedication. Compared with butorphanol, buprenorphine did not cause any different effects on vital function.

Impact of collaborative care on survival time for dogs with congestive heart failure and revenue for attending primary care veterinarians
Dogs that received collaborative care had a longer median survival time (254 days) than did dogs that received care from the primary care veterinarians alone (146 days).

Canine Elbow Realignment Osteotomy (CERO): Validation of the Accuracy of Acute Radial Lengthening in a Cadaveric Incongruency Model
Mean joint space measurements at most loci in the dorsal and sagittal planes were significantly different post-ESF compared with pre-op, confirming development of joint incongruency with the model. Post-CERO joint space measurements did not differ significantly compared with pre-op measurements, demonstrating the return to normal joint congruency using the CERO procedure.

Behavior Modification For Cat That Attacks When People Try To Pet Him
It's not uncommon for cats to seek proximity, mark their owners, and even solicit contact -- but allow little to no petting.

Is There Any Benefit To Giving Dogs Subcutaneous Fluids During A Blood Glucose Curve?
I think giving SQ fluids during a curve is counter-productive, as it creates stress. I try to not do *anything* during a BG curve (e.g., no trimming nails, no cysto samples, no blood draws). We're trying to mimic what happens during the day at home.

Backyard Chicken Being Pecked By Another Hen: Tips For Reducing Aggressive Behavior
If the chicken coop/yard is barren, chickens will get bored and pick on each other more. Throw wood chips or a bale of straw in there now and then to give them something to continually scratch and peck around in.

Marijuana And Cannabidiol Use In Pets Poses Legal And Ethical Quandary For Veterinarians
It would be great to have a standardized breakdown of the component CBD oils and their percentages in any product. That's not generally available. With many botanicals, you may measure the grams of material, but not know the amount of active ingredient in the sample.
