The effect of imepitoin, a recently developed antiepileptic drug, on thyroid parameters and fat metabolism in healthy Beagle dogs
Imepitoin was administered at 30mg/kg PO twice daily (range, 29.2-35.7mg/kg). Imepitoin administration did not affect any of the thyroid parameters over an 18-week period.

Retrospective evaluation of the administration of 25% human albumin to dogs with protein-losing enteropathy: 21 cases (2003-2013)
Two of the 21 patients (9.5%) developed signs consistent with an acute reaction; 1 of these dogs was euthanized due to the severity of the reaction. Two patients (9.5%) showed signs consistent with a delayed reaction; 1 of these dogs was euthanized 5 days after the reaction, though it is unclear whether the reaction and the euthanasia were related.

Marked Proteinuria In A Dog That Has Asymptomatic Bacteriuria
It's a very good question and we don't know--at least I haven't heard of a study looking at UPCs on dogs with asymptomatic bacteriuria.

Tips For Adjusting Settings To Improve Ultrasound Image Quality
Every machine has graybars that are displayed or you can have displayed. I suggest that the monitor be set so that the darkest bar is slightly darker than the background blackness.

Bees and Veterinary Medicine
February 8 - March 11, 2017
Presenter(s): Meghan Milbrath, PhD, MPH

This course is designed to provide veterinarians with basic information on honey bee health. We will cover basic honey bee biology, honey bee diseases, and how to manage and treat for mites. We will focus on the needs to keep bees in good health, how to recognize a healthy colony, how to identify common diseases and issues in the hive, and what treatments are necessary to bring a colony back to health. No previous beekeeping experience is necessary.

Towards a Sustainable Clinical Career: The Neuroscience of Clinicianship
March 12 - April 19, 2017
Presenter(s): Michele Gaspar, DVM, DABVP (Feline Practice), MA, LPC

This course is designed to address core skills that are critically necessary for sustainable and effective clinical practice. These include: Self-observation/mindfulness; empathy; resilience/self-compassion/boundaries; and attentiveness. Until recently, these have been erroneously considered as unimportant "soft skills" that are beyond the scope of traditional veterinary medical education. However, they are increasingly recognized as essential in enabling a clinician to flourish in his or her professional and personal life. This course will provide skills necessary to engage with clinical practice in healthier ways.
