Abstract

Adjunct extraction techniques are used when the shape or integrity of the tooth, the shape or size of the patient's oral cavity, the location of the tooth, or the location of the proximal teeth prevents or complicates standard oral extraction. Techniques described and discussed include partial coronectomy, tooth sectioning, minimally invasive buccotomy, transbuccal screw extraction, and commissurotomy.

Bone Marrow Aspiration in Dogs: Indications and a Step-by-Step Tutorial
In dogs, bone marrow aspirates are often collected from the proximal humerus or ilium. A special 14- to 18-gauge needle with stylet is placed into the bone marrow cavity, and cells are subsequently aspirated. These needles are designed to penetrate cortical bone without becoming obstructed. Other sites in dogs include the sternum, ribs, and proximal femur. Aspiration from the pelvis and femur is challenging, if the region contains abundant adipose tissue.

Uroabdomen: Approach and Management
Animals with uroabdomen caused by small defects can potentially be medically managed with intravenous fluid therapy and urinary diversion (with a urinary catheter and/or abdominal drain). In a recent study, 25% of cats with uroabdomen were medically managed, and in another study, 14% of dogs were treated with medical management alone. Otherwise, uroabdomen is generally considered a surgical condition once the patient has been stabilized.

The overall prognosis in dogs with orthostatic tremors is considered to be good, as the disease is benign and slowly progressive.

National Dog Survey: Describing UK Dog and Ownership Demographics.
The online survey was completed by a total of 354,046 respondents owning dogs in the UK, providing data for 440,423 dogs. The results of this study highlight dog demographics, including acquisition and veterinary factors, as well as owner demographic and household information. This dataset serves as an up-to-date baseline for future study comparisons to continue to monitor trends and patterns of the dog population and dog owners going forwards.

Equine Gunshot Euthanasia: Creation of a 3D-Printed Model with Integrated Sensors for Training.
Here, we report the development and production of a portable, reusable, equine gunshot euthanasia training model. The model facilitates the training of veterinary personnel and first responders in successful gunshot euthanasia, providing instantaneous feedback on the likelihood of a shot causing immediate, humane death in a live animal.
