WHAT ARE YOU SEARCHING?
When you do a search, you can search all of the following information sources together or individually. The search form is set to search ALL of the sources by default, but by using the Tabs (or their associated drop boxes), you can limit your search to a specific source, if you wish. Here are the sources of information you are searching:

ALL
ALL allows you to use one of the following: All Resources or Selected Sources. (Selected Sources lets you check as many of the sources as you wish. This is a great way to combine sources from multiple sections of VIN.)

BOARDS
You can search the BOARDS to find questions and cases previously discussed on the Vet-To-Vet message boards. All related messages (questions, answers, case discussions, etc.) have been organized, indexed, and pulled together into a single cohesive record. VIN's Vet-To-Vet message boards are a tremendous source of information; by searching the BOARDS you can often find the answer you need immediately. You can limit your search to just the BOARDS by clicking that tab. It takes about 8 weeks after the original message was posted on the live message boards before it and its responding posts are organized, indexed, and added to the board archives in the database.

JOURNALS
The VIN database covers over 150 veterinary journals and more than 40 human journals. In addition, VIN scans the biomedical literature (3000 journals) for articles pertaining to veterinary medicine, and adds those article abstracts. The easiest way to see a list of the veterinary journals regularly covered is to click Library on the main navigation bar, and choose Journals. You can limit your search to just the journal abstracts by using the JOURNALS tab. Note: Most of the journal articles are abstracts. If you want the full text article, you can click the "Order This Article" link on the abstract page to go to the UC Davis Health Sciences Library online Document Delivery Service and order an article copy for a fee.

DRUGS
The DRUGS section contains Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook, MSDS pages, NACA Formulary, and the Compendium Of Veterinary Products (Drug Inserts). You can choose to search ALL of these drug resources, or each one individually (or you can use Selected Sources).

PROCEEDINGS
VIN has copies of many national/international veterinary proceedings. You can choose to search ALL of the archived proceedings, or each one individually (or you can use Selected Sources).

CLINICAL RESOURCES
The CLINICAL RESOURCES section includes ASSOCIATE, BOOK REVIEWS, EMERGING AND EXOTIC DISEASES, FORMS COLLECTION, OSHA CENTER, MEDICAL FAQs, DISASTER PREPAREDNESS, CARDIAC AUSCULTATION, SM AN CV MEDICINE, VETERINARY DENTISTRY, and ROUNDS. You can choose to search all the items, or each one individually (or you can use Selected Sources).

CLIENT EDUCATION
The CLIENT EDUCATION section contains handouts and other helpful resources that you can use for your clients.

PUBMED
The PUBMED section takes you directly to PubMed, and automatically loads your search parameters into PubMed's search form.
