Course Information:
Advanced Imaging has become more available in veterinary medicine. The ability to offer same-day imaging/interpretation can result in better quality and level of care to our patients. This course will cover the importance of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound (US), fluoroscopy, and Contrast studies and case studies will also be reviewed.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sedation/anesthesia protocols to facilitate advanced imaging.
  • Discuss how to properly position patients for these advanced imaging techniques.
  • Demonstrate understanding of safety guidelines and equipment.
Level and Prerequisites: This advanced VSPN CE course will be open for enrollment to veterinary technicians/technologists.

RACE Accreditation: This program has been approved for 4.5 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize RACE approval.(20-917049)

Course Agenda:

Week 1 (Real Time Session August 14): Computed Tomography (CT)
This session will cover CT equipment, safety protocols, anesthesia protocols, positioning, common scans, contrast studies, and case studies.

Week 2 (Real Time Session August 21): Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
This session will cover MRI equipment, safety protocols, anesthesia protocols, positioning, common scans, contrast studies, and case studies.

Week 3 (Real Time Session August 28): Other Advanced Imaging Modalities
The final session in this course will review Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, and Nuclear medicine.

Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. To learn more about the requirements for earning a CE certificate, please refer to Receiving Your CE Credit and Course Completion Certificate.

    2. Veterinary support staff must be VSPN members in order to enroll in a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.

    2. Only VIN and VSPN members can enroll in a VSPN CE course.
    3. Veterinarians will only receive credit for those VSPN CE courses that specify in the Accreditation statement that the course is accredited for veterinarians.
