COURSE DESCRIPTION
In 2007, ACVIM created a Consensus Statement entitled: Guidelines for the Identification, Evaluation, and Management of Systemic Hypertension in Dogs and Cats. In this two hour session, three of the panelists will engage you in discussion of its salient points, in addition to any new findings since creation of the Consensus Statement.
Objectives:
How and why were these Guidelines generated?
What do we know about measuring BP?
What are normal values for feline and canine BP?
What types of hypertension are recognized?
What is Target Organ Damage?
How prevalent is hypertension?
Who should we screen for hypertension?
How do we diagnose hypertension?
How do we manage hypertension?

Week 1 (December 10):
Guidelines for the Identification, Evaluation, and Management of Systemic Hypertension in Dogs and Cats (Cowgill, Egnor, Polzin)
