Course Information:
Did you know that there are some states where you as a veterinarian can legally discuss, recommend and even dispense hemp-derived cannabis? With cannabis science and the legal environment rapidly changing throughout the country, if not the world, we are excited to provide up-to-date information on medical and legal topics pertaining to cannabis in veterinary medicine. We are going to review crucial terminology which will assist the participant’s in understanding both the scientific and legal portions of the lecture. The lecture will be split into four sections consisting of:
  1. A review of important terminology and cannabis plant biology and physiology
  2. Clinically applicable tips to consider when using cannabis in practice.
  3. Veterinary-specific legal updates involving cannabis in multiple US states, with a focus on California.
  4. An informal question and answer session to ask the speakers any questions you want on cannabis.
Please note - completion of this course does not authorize the participant to prescribe, discuss, and/or distribute any type of cannabis product. Participants should explore the local, regional, and national restrictions concerning cannabis as it applies to them and to their practice.
