Practice Sessions: In order to prepare you for a successful experience in your CE course, we request you attend a Practice Session prior to the first Real Time Session. Level and Prerequisites: This advanced course will be open to veterinarians actively interested in nutrition topics for obesity, diabetes, cutaneous adverse food reaction and cardiac and liver disease.
VIN CE Course: Open to veterinarians. This course has been submitted for RACE approval for veterinarians. The Veterinary Information Network (VIN) is RACE Provider #22.

Course Description:
In this course we will review the aspects of the disease process that can be affected through dietary changes and will cover goals for nutritional modification. We will also provide key nutritional factors, goals for feeding management and cover selecting a diet +/- dietary supplements and a feeding plan for these patients.

This course consists of two (2) 2-hour Real Time Session, supplemental library materials, interactive message board discussions, and a mandatory end-of-course test. Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

About the Instructors:
Catherine Lenox graduated from veterinary school at the University of Missouri in 2007. She then went on to complete a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Colorado State University. After a year in emergency practice in St. Louis, MO, she went on to complete a small animal nutrition residency at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She was board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Nutrition in 2011. She owns a consulting business, Lenox Veterinary Nutrition Consulting, PLLC and does clinical consulting with veterinarians across the world. She is also affiliated with Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, TX.

Content: Week 2 (Real Time Session August 26): Cutaneous Adverse Food Reactions, Cardiac Disease and Liver
Content: CE CREDITS: 4

  1. Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
  2. Each enrollee must be able to receive emails from @vspn.org and @vin.com addresses. Email is our major form of communication with participants; personal emails are highly recommended rather than clinic/hospital email addresses.
  3. Each person is individually responsible for his/her own registration. To ensure that all information received is secure and correct, please do not enroll for a course on behalf of another individual.
