EXOT600-0307: Lions and Tigers and Servals, Oh My: Basic Medicine and Husbandry of Non-Domestic Cats

Course Description
This 2-week course will describe basic husbandry, nutrition, hand-rearing, enrichment, and housing for large and small exotic cats, from servals to lions. Vaccination protocols, common (and not-so-common) medical problems, common dental problems, anesthesia, and diagnostics for large and small non-domestic cats will be discussed.

At the completion of this course, participants will have a good general overview of the medicine and husbandry of exotic cats.

COURSE OUTLINE:

Week 1 (3/5):
Husbandry, nutrition, and hand-rearing of non-domestic cats.

Week 2 (3/12):
Restraint, anesthesia, vaccinations, common diseases and other medical problems.

MESSAGE BOARD DISCUSSIONS:
Discussions will begin on the start date of the course and will continue for one week following the last real time session.

TUITION:
Member/$67, Non-Member/$120 by February 19, 2007;
Member/$74, Non-Member/$133 after February 19, 2007
Course registration open to veterinarians and veterinary staff.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY: Withdrawal prior to the listed start date of a course entitles the registrant to a complete refund or a credit toward a future VIN CE course, whichever is preferred. Withdrawal within 1 week after the listed start date (i.e. including no more than one real-time session) entitles the registrant to a credit toward any future VIN CE course. (Does not apply to courses with only one real-time session.) After the first real-time session, a registrant may withdraw due to special circumstances and receive prorated credit towards a future VIN course. These requests will be handled on an individual basis. The amount of the prorated credit will be determined based on 65% of the time remaining in the course at the time of withdrawal. It is not possible to withdraw retroactively.
