Course Information:
As bearded dragons become one of the most popular pets in the trade, we must ensure that we are educating clients on how to appropriately take care of their cute spiked reptilian pets. In this course, we will dive into the basic husbandry, welfare, and nutritional needs of bearded dragons. The clinician will be able to understand the performance of basic clinical techniques to obtain diagnostic information for the bearded dragon patient including veterinary common medical conditions, diagnosis, and treatment.

To earn a certificate of completion the participant must complete all learning modules and score 80% or better on the end-of-course test. Completion of the course will take a minimum of 95 minutes. Participants must complete the participation requirements by April 30, 2026 to be eligible for a certificate.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • To be familiar with basic clinically relevant anatomy and physiology of bearded dragons.
  • To be able to advise about the basic husbandry, welfare, and nutrition needs of bearded dragons.
  • To be able to perform basic clinical techniques on bearded dragon patients to obtain diagnostic information.
  • To be familiar with common medical conditions, diagnosis, and treatment in bearded dragons.


Level and Prerequisites: This basic VIN CE self-study course is open for enrollment to veterinarians, veterinary technicians/technologists, and support staff, actively interested in Bearded Dragon basic medicine. This course is open to VIN/VSPN members only.
Credit Approval: This non-interactive course is approved for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 20-1159844)

    3. Veterinarians will only receive credit for those VSPN CE courses that specify in the Accreditation statement that the course is accredited for veterinarians.
