Level and Prerequisites: This basic course will be open primarily to veterinarians, but veterinary technicians interested in a small rodent review are welcome to attend.
VIN/VSPN CE Course: Open to veterinarians and veterinary technicians. This course has been submitted for RACE approval for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Course Description:
Small rodents are commonly seen in private practice, and many veterinarians have a limited working knowledge of this species. This course is intended to provide an overview of basic husbandry, medicine, and common disease presentations by species in order to allow veterinary staff to feel more comfortable with basic rodent diagnosis and treatment. Clinical symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, and current considerations for prevention will be covered.

This course consists of four (4) 90 minute Real Time Sessions, supplemental library materials, interactive message board discussions, a mandatory end-of-course test, and may include online multiple choice quizzes (after each Real Time Session). Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

About the Instructor:
Sandra Mitchell was one of the first veterinarians to be recognized by the American Board of Veterinary Medicine as an Exotic Companion Mammal specialist. She has been treating small companion mammals since her graduation from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Dr. Mitchell is contacted by veterinarians worldwide to discuss difficult cases. She is currently the owner of Animal Medical Associates in Saco, Maine; and sees referrals of rodents and other exotics from all over the northeast. In addition to her professional interest in rodents, she currently shares her home with 4 rodents, and has owned every species discussed in this class at one time or another!

Tuition: Member $120.00 ($108.00 early bird special if enrolled by August 22, 2012).
Non-Member $201.00 ($181.00 early bird special if enrolled by August 22, 2012).

*To ensure participants are ready and prepared for classes, enrollment will close when the maximum number of participants is reached or at 5pm ET the day of the first Real Time Session unless otherwise noted. If the first Real Time Session is on a weekend, course enrollment will close on the Friday before the first Real Time Session.
