Course Information:
Respiratory distress is a common presenting complaint in the emergency room and often develops in the intensive care unit. It is a life-threatening and rapidly progressing syndrome that encompasses a wide range of underlying diseases. Clinicians are faced with 1- rapidly recognizing the problem, 2- promptly stabilizing the patient, and 3- initiating the appropriate workup.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
- review basic respiratory physiology.
- present obvious and subtle signs of respiratory distress.
- outline various diagnostic measures for the patient in respiratory distress.
- discuss the range of therapeutic measures needed to stabilize those patients.
Level and Prerequisites: This intermediate VIN CE course is open for enrollment to veterinarians interested in respiratory distress in the emergency and critical care setting.
Credit Approval: This course is approved for 2 hours of continuing education credit by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 20-1080260)

- Veterinary support staff must be VSPN members in order to enroll in a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.

- VSPN CE courses are open to veterinary support staff and veterinarians.
- Only VIN and VSPN members can enroll in a VSPN CE course.
- Veterinarians will only receive credit for those VSPN CE courses that specify in the Accreditation statement that the course is accredited for veterinarians.
- Please check the course Level and Prerequisites, Accreditation, and Tuition before enrolling.
