Course Information:
This course, divided into three presentations, will cover normal reproductive tract ultrasonography (equipment, technique, anatomy and typical findings) followed by abnormal reproductive tract findings, and ultimately challenging case examples to put it all together. Female reproductive ultrasound will be the initial presentation (girls go first), followed in a week by male reproductive ultrasound, and finally, in the third week pediatric ultrasound (girls + boys equals pedes).

The instructors believe veterinarians attending these courses will feel comfortable performing ultrasound with their breeder clients present!


Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • acclimate to the use of ultrasonography in the evaluation and management of canine female reproductive cases.
  • acclimate to the use of ultrasonography in the evaluation and management of canine male reproductive cases.
  • acclimate to the use of ultrasonography in the evaluation and management of feline female reproductive cases.
  • acclimate to the use of ultrasonography in the evaluation and management of feline male reproductive cases.
  • competently utilize ultrasound in the evaluation of common pediatric cases.


Level and Prerequisites: This basic VIN CE course is open for enrollment to veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists interested in reproductive sonography in canine and feline patients.
Accreditation: This course is approved for 6 hours of continuing education credit by RACE for veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists. (RACE 20-927034)


Course Agenda:

Week 1 (Real Time Session December 7, 2022): Pediatric Ultrasound
This session will cover equipment, technique, anatomy and typical findings in pediatric canine and feline patients, plus case examples.

Week 2 (Real Time Session December 14, 2022): Female Reproductive Ultrasound
This session will cover equipment, technique, anatomy and typical findings in female canine and feline patients, plus case examples.

Week 3 (Real Time Session December 21, 2022): Male Reproductive Ultrasound
This session will cover equipment, technique, anatomy and typical findings in male canine and feline patients, plus case examples.
