Course Information:
Is this truncal alopecia endocrine? What tests should I perform next? This image rich and case-based course provides a practical approach to cutaneous features of endocrinopathy and to the diagnosis of hyperadrenocorticism, hypothyroidism, sex hormone imbalances, and Alopecia X. The diagnostic framework presented will allow you to successfully diagnose mimickers of endocrinopathy as well.


Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • identify features of endocrine alopecia vs folliculitis.
  • identify cutaneous changes associated with endocrinopathy: hyperadrenocorticism, hypothyroidism, sex hormone imbalances, and Alopecia X.
  • given images and history, develop a diagnostic plan to determine the cause of truncal alopecia and other cutaneous changes.


Level and Prerequisites: This intermediate VIN CE course is open for enrollment to veterinarians actively interested in dermatologic endocrinopathies.
Accreditation: This course is approved for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 20-910301)

This image rich and case-based course provides a practical approach to cutaneous features of endocrinopathy and to the diagnosis of hyperadrenocorticism, hypothyroidism, sex hormone imbalances, and Alopecia X.
