Veterinary Ectoparasites

Veterinary Ectoparasites provides a complete overview of the biology and behavior of arthropod ectoparasites. Topics include the pathology, diagnosis, treatment, and control of ectoparasitic diseases in livestock and companion animals. Updates and features in the second edition of this book (previously entitled Veterinary Parasitology) include:

  • expanded detailed coverage of individual ectoparasite species
  • up-to-date information on new veterinary drugs and modes of application
  • easy-to-follow keys for identifying parasites
  • links to clinical information on treatment
  • strengthened practical clinical relevance of the information
  • numerous illustrations, including a color plate section
  • a unique integrated approach combining both ectoparasite biology and veterinary dermatology

There are many quality line drawings and photos of parasite species to assist in identification. There are small black silhouettes topping each page to indicate the species (flies, fleas, ticks, larvae, etc.) discussed on those pages. Page toppers also include host-species, to key those pages for easy location. Each host-genera has information on specific ectoparasites that affect those animals. Some of the less common host species (rabbits, chickens, ferrets, and snakes) are also included in this volume.

This book is produced by Blackwell Science in England and distributed by Blackwell Publishing (2001).

Soft-cover, 262 pages.
