This book is Out of Print.

Another in a series of small format, condensed books for ready-reference in the clinic, this book appears to be compiled from eight texts on neurology, with all of the illustrations reprinted from one or another of those texts.

The book is basically a reference for the physiology of the nervous system. The formula is simple: explain how the specific system works and give a couple of case examples. The case formats vary as you progress through the book. At the beginning of the book, the presentation is a case with an answer. In subsequent chapters, the presentation is a case followed by "Where is the lesion?" Further on, some chapters end with a case followed by "What is your diagnosis?" Finally, it's case followed by "key points."

The section on therapeutics gives an easy reference for adverse reactions, but I think that the clinician would be better advised to read Plumb's and get the entire picture.

The student might wish to use this book as a shortcut to reading the recommended texts, but I would not suggest it. For the clinician, it is not convenient to use as a diagnostic aid, as it is not sorted by presentation signs, but by system -- and the style shifts, when following the cases, gives the book a feeling of inconsistency.

I can see that this book might be useful as an orientation for technicians or for explaining the systems to a client who has a neurologic pet.

The book could have been better-edited, as I picked out some odd sentence structure that would probably not bother anyone interested in the information alone.
