This is another in the "Made Easy Series". This book's well-ordered, logical format (typical of the Made Easy Series), makes this book one you will use often. You will almost wait for that next neuro case to come in so you can use the book.

The first section is a review of the Clinical Approach to Patients, the Neurologic Examination, and an Overview of Lesion Localization. The following sections are:

  • Dementia, Stupor, and Coma
  • Seizures
  • Tremors
  • Heat Tilt, Dysequilibrium and Nystagmus
  • Cranial Neuropathies and Myopathies
  • Neck or Back Pain
  • Ataxia
  • Acute Quadriparesis, Quadriplegia, Hemiparesis, or Hemiplegia
  • Chronic Quadriparesis, Episodic and Exercise Weakness
  • Acute Paraparesis or Paraplegia
  • Chronic Paraparesis
  • Monoparesis and Monoplegia
  • Flaccid Tail, Anus, and Bladder
  • Miscellaneous Neurologic Syndromes
  • Recommended Reading

Each section begins with definitions, which elaborate the terminology in an excellent style. This is followed by lesion localization, differentiation of motor neuron lesions, differential diagnosis, diagnostic evaluation, related disorders and miscellaneous disorders. The lists of history questions should be required reading. The chapters are liberally illustrated with excellent photos that illustrate most of the important points and techniques, and with radiographs.

You will use this book frequently, once you familiarize yourself with the contents and can relate case presentations to the signs described.

Tables and warnings are appropriately distributed in the text.

At 353 pages, this is a larger book than is usually found in the Made Easy Series. It is spiral bound for easy reading and reference. The CD-ROM illustrates techniques that are only described in the book and is an important adjunct to the book.
