This text is intended to be a rapid-reference text, arranged in a note-based style, to ensure veterinarians and students have quick and easy access to the most up-to-date clinical and diagnostic information.

There have been many developments in this field since the first edition in 1997, particularly in the area of cardiology. This new edition has been completely revised and updated, and now includes the latest information on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiorespiratory diseases. The authors offer their expert advice (and lots of helpful tips and ideas) on the more common diseases, with some references to rarer conditions.

This text would be especially useful for a student or for the clinician in need of a refresher course (or as happens often, a sudden lack of confidence with a critical case and a need for information). The book is practitioner orientated, with full guidance on how to achieve the best diagnostic results for radiography, echocardiography, and airway samples. The topics are brief, but succinct. Topics are shown on the page-edges for fast reference, and headings are highlighted. The section headings are shown on the edge of the left-hand pages, and topics are indicated on the right-hand page edges. The terminology is British, but that poses no problem.

The book includes a drug glossary, a table for CPR, and useful appendices on breed predispositions and normal echo-values for dogs and cats. If you read through the Table of Contents, you will find that there are important aspects covered. I would recommend a copy of the book for your clinic.
