This is an interesting presentation, comparing human ocular diseases with those in animal species in terms of morphology, biologic behavior, and clinical considerations. The illustrations are excellent and numerous. Topics covered include orbital tumors, eyelid tumors, conjunctival tumors, corneal and scleral tumors, iridociliary epithelial tumors, uveal tumors, feline ocular sarcomas, optic nerve neoplasia, retinoblastoma in humans and animals, metastases, ocular lymphoid proliferations, the phakomatoses, and experimental ocular oncology in animal models. Each chapter is extensively referenced.
The direction of this text is primarily diagnostic; this is not a surgical textbook. The numerous electron microscopy slides will help in identification of tissues. The topic may sound dry, but the book makes informative, interesting reading. The book is intended for pathologists, ophthalmologists, molecular biologists, oncologists, researchers, and students. Veterinarians with an interest in tumors in and around the eye will find this a useful reference source.
