LASER (Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation) equipment is one of the latest tools being promoted in animal medicine. Because LASER machines are expensive, the clinician must decide whether the machine will find enough use in day-to-day practice to warrant the expense. Those who have purchased these machines are doing remarkable work with them, but ease of application and frequency of use is still a big question in the decision to invest in this surgical tool.
The 16 contributors represent the forefront of this technology. This book goes into great detail in not only instructing the reader on the history and properties of this equipment, but in its use and application in the clinical setting. The chapters are excellent, but the reader will require live CE to hone the skills necessary to make this instrument a truly useful addition to the clinical arsenal.
There are excellent chapters on declaw surgery, neuters, dental surgery, perianal and rectal surgery, and ophthalmology. There are numerous illustrations, tables, and charts to enhance the text.
