This book was originally produced to compliment the existing textbooks in small animal veterinary medicine, providing a range of photos to fill the gap for those books that needed additional illustration.

Each chapter in the book is arranged to provide the definition of each disorder, its clinical features, the differential diagnoses, the diagnostic methodology, and the treatment and prognosis. The goal of the authors was brevity, with the numerous illustrations providing the main philosophy of the book.

The chapters are well arranged. The first chapter on dermatologic disorders covers all possible etiologies, including bacterial, fungal, tumors, parasites, hypersensitivities, keratinization disorders, metabolic disorders, autoimmune disorders, psychogenic dermatoses and miscellaneous disorders. The following chapters are equally detailed.

Equal attention is given to each chapter, providing the reader with a very thorough text. The chapters cover topics such as: Ophthalmologic Disorders, Infectious Disease, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Hematologic, Gastrointestinal, Liver, Pancreatic, Nutrition, Endocrine, Urinary, Reproductive, Neurologic, and Musculoskeletal Disease, and a new chapter on Pain Management.

Numerous color photos accompany each section. A glossary of abbreviations is included to assist the clinician.

For those clinicians who want additional information and illustration to their existing texts, this book is the answer. I would recommend this book be in every clinic library.
