Directed at the veterinary student, this book covers the essentials of microbiology and microbial disease. This handbook is meant to accompany the textbook titled Microbiology and Microbial Diseases.
The chapters include: Introductory Bacteriology; Pathogenic Bacteria; Mycology; and Viruses, Prions, and Disinfection. Pathogens are addressed thoroughly and individually within their respective chapter headings.
There are charts and tables of drugs and their action and effect; drugs and their targets; species and hosts; pathogens; and disease conditions, just to name a few. There are important tables in each area and topic. Key facts are combined with informative drawings and charts to make remembering easier.
This book, written by experienced teachers, focuses on the principles of veterinary microbiology. The aim here seems to be placed on host-pathogen interactions and their clinical effects.
Even without the accompanying textbook, this handbook is highly instructive, easy to follow, and informative. I would recommend it for any student, technician, and veterinarian who wish a quick brush-up.
