This third edition of a very popular book brings in the aspects of magnetic and light based therapies, as well as updates in imaging techniques.
Therapy and rehabilitation begins with the initial injury. The book begins with normal physiology and then segues into the causes of various injuries, both natural and human-origin. Preventing injury is a primary therapy and knowing what causes some of the common injuries plays an important role in the health of the animal. The details of how misapplied tack can affect the physical well-being of the horse plays a large part in diagnosing the injury and in removing the cause. This is a book to be read at leisure, not just to be picked up when presented with an injured horse. What you may learn from this book will make you seem a genius to clients.
At first, I thought that the opening chapter on the musculoskeletal system was unnecessary- most people treating horses will already know these things. But, the presentation ties in with the later chapters on cause and effect, so readers should not skip the opening chapter in the mistaken idea that it can be passed over.
This is not a big book, but it will be a well-worn member of the equine library. I recommend it.
