This is an important book, considering the current research into new species and subspecies of arthropods. In order to keep ahead of the diseases, it is imperative that new information be collected and published in a timely manner. This book brings the reader up-to-date, even to studies in development as the book was being written.

So many important diseases are vectored by arthropods, that the incidence number in the average practice may be much higher than expected. This book will help educate the practitioner in the trenches on the advances in identification and treatment of such diseases.

The book is well illustrated, with numerous color photos of infected animals, microscopic and electron microscopy views, graphs, and tables. Also included is information on the public health issues of these diseases.

Nineteen contributors are represented in this volume, each a well-respected scholar in this field.

The book is not a big book, but insofar as importance is concerned, I would recommend that this book be in every veterinary library.
