This is the only book of its kind featuring normal radiographic images. Its use as a control, to compare images of hospitalized animals, will probably bring more use than if it were a book on clinical cases.

Included are instructions for positioning for each species, to help the practitioner to achieve the excellent quality illustrated in the book. Having Sam Silverman explain how to read your films is also a valuable asset, and Lisa Tell is outstanding in the field of small animals.

This text offers essential coverage of normal radiographic anatomy of small mammal species, including rabbit, ferret, guinea pig, chinchilla, hamster, mouse, and rat. These animals are showing up increasingly in pet homes, and more owners are seeking medical care for them. This book provides an understanding of normal anatomic and radiographic features, thus helping clinicians more easily identify abnormal features so they can reach an accurate diagnosis.

The primary sections are:

  1. Radiology Equipment and Positioning Techniques
  2. Mouse
  3. Rat
  4. Hamster
  5. Chinchilla
  6. Guinea Pig
  7. Rabbit
  8. Ferret

Within each section are a full compliment of radiographic studies and views. The table of contents lists each image for quick reference. Alternative imaging modalities (CT, MRI, and ultrasound) are included. Complete directions for positioning are included to assist in obtaining the highest quality images. Exposure guidelines are outlined for each species and each view to determine optimal settings and improve technique. There are line drawings superimposed on radiographic images for accurate identification of anatomic structures, as well as an unmarked control image. Contrast media studies to enhance detail are discussed.
