This is a comprehensive guide to all aspects of practice management. Many of these issues are left to the office manager, administrator, or the practice attorney, but the truth is that this information should be known by the veterinarian. Having people to manage your practice for you is wonderful, until they do it wrong and leave you in debt or in a legal quagmire. This book will provide concise, easy to use explanations of how the business end of a clinic should be run.
Revised for 2007 publication date, this edition is as up-to-date as you will find. The chapters are:
- Marketplace
- Client Relationship Management
- Communications
- Financial Management
- Cash Management
- Human Resources
- Marketing Management
- Operations Management
- Administrative Management
- Practice Safety
- Legal Issues
- Planning and Decision Making
- Facility Management, Design, and Construction
A complete list of topics is shown on the Wiley-Blackwell publishing site.
There are numerous sub-headings under each chapter that include common questions, explain basic terminology of that topic, and define the legal ramification of each. The issues contained in the book seem to stick to the practical applications, without getting too much into hypothetical or theoretical situations. As a legal wannabe, I found it very interesting and enlightening reading.
I have seen many questions on VIN regarding clinic safety, training, drug handling, case referral, client complaints, allowable pre-employment questions, building security, and countless other topics that are explained in this volume. The answers are right here.
I recommend a copy of this book for every clinic.
