With the threat of epidemics/pandemics facing us all, the topic of epidemiology becomes more and more important. The need for quality investigation and research, as well as accurate tracking and surveillance, is evident.

This book addresses the concepts of epidemiology, including diagnostic test validation. The book takes the researcher through the process of evaluation of a disease epidemic threat, including transmission, ecology, causality, disease patterns, nature of data, surveillance, data collection/management, numerical data, surveys, observational studies, clinical trials, and more. A complete list is below.

The book is interesting to read, and would be educational for the clinician as well as the researcher. This subject will be the topic of conversations with clients and presentations at meetings, and should be fully understood by the working practitioner.
