There are 18 contributors to this volume.

Included is a companion website facilitating interpretations of real-time features of normal structures and common disorders. Password is included with the purchase of this book. The site seems to be working well and text appears over the live US views, explaining what one is seeing. Look for the sub-heading of VIDEOS to enter the password for further viewing.

The book begins with the fundamentals of ultrasound (US), the tools required, and some insight into the operation and interpretation. The student or veterinarian is instructed on the principle and shape of the US beam. Doppler US is also discussed and illustrations show the various readings one might encounter.

The hard copy presents over 800 illustrations with captions. The first chapter gives the reader an introduction to the physics of US and the use and scope of its capability; the following chapters represent the body systems and how to approach the various structures for most efficient views. Each chapter covers the normal structures plus a number of disorders one might find. Those body systems are:

Chapter 2. Eye and Orbit.

Chapter 3. Neck.

Chapter 4. Thorax.

Chapter 5. Heart.

Chapter 6. Liver.

Chapter 7. Spleen.

Chapter 8. Gastrointestinal Tract.

Chapter 9. Pancreas.

Chapter 10. Kidneys and Ureters.

Chapter 11. Bladder and Urethra.

Chapter 12. Adrenal Glands.

Chapter 13. Female Reproductive Tract

Chapter 14. Male Reproductive Tract.

Chapter 15. Abdominal Caity, Lymph Nodes, and Great Vessels

Chapter 16. Clinical Applications of Contrast Ultrasound.

Chapter 17. Musculoskeletal System.

Chapter 18. Spine and Peripheral Nerves.

The photos are clear and primarily in black and white except where appropriate for color views. Some sections have accompanying drawings to further illustrate the views. Tables are in shaded blocks. Chapters are marked with color tabs on the outside edges.

The book lays flat for hands-free reference, even though it is a fairly large book.

There is a useful Index following the chapters.

All in all, the book seems to be thorough and up-to-date. The variety of views for each section provide an impressive coverage.
