Tick and Tick-Borne Disease is a statistical and reference book rolled into one. The book discusses the European and Asia regions where ticks have been found, and where tick-borne diseases have been reported. Due to climate changes, and an increase of animals moving to new locations, there has been an increase in tick populations, and with this increase so does the rise of tick borne diseases. The book crosses into both the veterinary and human side of tick related diseases which provides the reader invaluable information on how to identify different species of ticks, factors influencing the spread of ticks, vector borne diseases, and surveillance and control measures of the tick.
Even though the areas only cover Europe and Asia, the reader can appreciate the 10 pages of colored photos of tick species, keys for Genera and species of ticks with beautifully drawn and labelled pictures with a detailed anatomy of the tick. I would recommend this book to parasitology teachers, public health organizations, and laboratories both on the human and veterinary side.
