Veterinary medicine, a lot of times, involves learning as you go, on the job. Important parts of the veterinary clinics proper protocols may be lost in translation by the busy, hectic, and at times stressful day. How We Do Things Here CD provides both the employer and employee the building blocks to teach and to learn from. New staff can use this CD to learn from in a quiet and controlled area and feel confident they were provided the appropriate training they need for their new job, and at the same time the employer knows they have trained the new hire with the proper protocols to perform the tasks appropriately.
There are 3 separate sections; the first section is the blank modules for the trainee, the second is the module key for the trainer, and the third is the module test for the trainee. At the end of the modules there is a list of references. The Eleven modules that are covered include:
- Anatomy, Examinations, Common Diseases
- Vaccinations
- Parasites
- Dentistry, Radiology, and Surgery
- Laboratory and Pharmacy
- Ill Pets and Hospitalization
- Outpatient
- Behavior and Handling
- Nutrition
- Client Communication and Scheduling
- Business
The CD does not include all the answers to the questions that are asked, but the modules can be edited and saved to each individual using the CD. Also each module can be tailored to specific employees; Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and to the front line Receptionists.
I would highly recommend this CD to the Veterinary Management staff as it is a great tool to make sure that all employees and employers and all on the same page in how they perform their tasks, and what is communicated to their clients.
