(Click on stars for an explanation).
This thin, paperback book of 138 pages addresses the various factors which may be associated with the tapeworm diseases known as taeniasis and cystocercosis. These factors include: etiology, taeniosis in humans, cysticercosis in animals and humans, biology and systematics, epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment, detection in cattle and swine, surveillance, prevention, control and methodologies associated with these parasitic-induced conditions. While the clinical technician may not reach for this book often, the technician with an interest in parasitology as well as agricultural public health will grasp it and not let go.
Eighteen authors have contributed to six chapters which will enlighten the reader on current research regarding tapeworm infections. For anyone involved in writing and/or research in the genre of parasitology this is a must have. For the clinical technician in practice, this book may not be for you as it is more of a textbook-based tome.
