From the authors playful acknowledgment section to the heartfelt dedications at the beginning of the text, I was somewhat captivated by this book before I even got started. Having met Dr. Wilson, a few years ago, I felt his latest offering would be beneficial to me as a veterinary technician educator. Little did I know…
Because this book is written by someone who is a veterinarian as well as a lawyer, it covers the gamut of legal and ethical basics as pertains to veterinary medicine under the auspices of the American judicial system. This book addresses the many facets of contract law after first taking the reader through the basics of the American legal system. Although written with the newly vested veterinarian negotiating perhaps their first employment contract in mind, it is actually pertinent and relevant information for all veterinary personnel involved in such legalities as hiring, buying or owning a practice of their own. As for veterinary technicians and technician educators, while these folks may not normally fall into the aforementioned categories – the knowledge is still useful from an academic perspective. The book is definitely one of value as a supplemental text for legal/ethics courses in the technician curriculum and therefore bears a closer look.
