Infectious Diseases of the Horses is the first edition of this text to be written by Dr. Kolk and Dr. Kroeze. With over 200 colored pictures offering the reader a huge array of microscopic, histology and necropsy images, one can develop an understanding of the prevention and control of the spread of equine diseases. Chapters include in-depth examination of bacterial diseases, viral diseases, protozoal diseases, fungal diseases, ectoparasitical diseases and helminthic diseases. The book discusses 80 plus diseases through Overview of Disease, etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, incubation, clinical presentation, and differential diagnosis, treatment, and public health ramifications. Appendices contain lists of potential zoonotic diseases and include over 10 pages of beautiful clinical pathology colored plates.

The author’s goal for this book was to offer the reader help in understanding and dealing with equine infectious diseases. They have definitely achieved this goal by giving the reader access to a large offering of equine diseases, all in one book. This book offers the reader an thorough education about equine diseases through the use the references and well thought out appendices

I would recommend this book to the Veterinarian, veterinary technician and/or students that are studying and or working with horses.
