Veterinary clinics that do in-house laboratory work depend on highly trained veterinary technicians to accurately perform and provide the veterinarian with valuable information about a patients’ blood profile, urinalysis, cytology, etc. The in-house laboratory should have a good array of books for the veterinarian and technician to compare and to use as reference. A book solely on urinalysis is a key component to accurately distinguish the different types of crystals, casts, cells, and artifacts in the sediment. This book provides a very good overview of how the kidneys function, collection of samples, and performing of the tests necessary to make a diagnosis regarding how the urinary system is working. The book contains excellent pictures, diagrams and tables, as well as describing a large array of different types of tests run on urine, (i.e. dipstick, ERD, UPC ratio, etc.).
Practical Veterinary Urinalysis would be an asset to the veterinary student, veterinary technician, and to the veterinarian in the day-to-day examination and understanding of veterinary urinalysis procedures.
