I found this to be a four star resource. This medical dictionary is quite complete. It defines numerous clinical medical and dental terms, conditions and syndromes, as well as defining many laboratory and pathology terms in great detail. Also, the dictionary defines and describes medical equipment, supplies, as well as surgical and testing procedures. The dictionary includes many helpful colorful drawings, diagrams, charts, and photographs. Purchasers also enjoy the added benefits and support on the accompanying disc and the availability of on-line assistance.
There are special highlighted break out reading sections for a more in depth examination of words, such as the word antibody, where the dictionary defines many types of antibodies. Another example is the break out section on anatomical names which names and defines numerous arteries throughout a body. There is a similar treatment of the word muscle.
There are several veterinary terms that are defined in this medical dictionary. Rumen, for example, is listed and the definition of onychectomy includes “removal of the claws of an animal; called declawing.” There are lists and descriptions for ticks (which includes pictures), poisonous snakes, as well as for different species of tapeworms. For these reasons, I recommend this dictionary as a supplement for the veterinary technician who also has a veterinary medical dictionary. This dictionary will be a great assistance and resource.
