The authors have developed this book based on their experiences with their own students, children, and others in developing the practice of communication within the veterinary practice. The final work as presented is a culmination of an on-going series which was featured within AAHA’s Trends magazine devoted to the solving of communication issues and problems commonly encountered within the veterinary facility. Presented in four parts, readers are taken from an orientation to learning approaches to the art of communication, then on to how to put effective communication into practice (in daily situations) and finally readers are challenged with case studies. The case studies presented are oftentimes more likely to be encountered by a veterinarian than veterinary technicians and other support staff, although some are relevant to veterinary technicians and staff and may be modified to suit individual training needs. This book is one that may be used in training or educational programs, but would not be readily reached for by veterinary technicians or veterinarians already in the trenches…I mean field. For this reason, it garnered a 3 out of 5 star rating.
