Thoracic Radiology for the Small Animal Practitioner is from the Made Easy Series by Teton New Media and includes a CD-ROM within this small spiral bound soft covered book. O’Brien states within the preface that this is not meant as an all-inclusive textbook, but rather a handy reference illustrating most common pathologies seen in day-to-day practice. The book is divided into nine sections, with the first two sections covering an introduction and normal thoracic radiography. Sections three through nine of the book cover the heart, vessels, lungs, pleural space disease, mediastinum, diaphragm and the body wall and ribs. Also included in the book are four appendices that cover a sample technique chart, lateral thoracic positioning, ventral dorsal thoracic positioning and dorsal ventral positioning.
A few of the chapter’s pictures include a thin-filmed page to place on top of the picture in order to see labeled structures. All the chapters include numerous radiographic examples with adequately labeled structures to ease identification. As with the other Made Easy Series from Teton New Media books this is an awesome book. It is very easy to transport and easy to interpret the examples they provide and definitely will be of use to any technician, student or clinician that is involved in the art of thoracic radiography.
