Abdominal Radiology for the Small Animal Practitioner is from the Made Easy Series by Teton NewMedia. It is a small spiral bound soft covered book that is very portable and includes a CD-ROM of the book as well. In the preface of the book the authors do mention that this book is not meant as a textbook, but rather as a “handy cookbook” divided into eight sections; each section covering a different aspect of the abdominal cavity in regards to radiograph examination.
The first two sections cover basics; Section 1 presents an introduction and technique while Section 2 reviews normal radiographic appearance of the abdominal cavity. The rest of the book (Sections 3-8) cover various parts within the abdomen such as peritoneal cavity, intra-abdominal masses, alimentary tract, urinary tract, reproductive tract and anomalies. Since Section 2 covers normal radiographic appearance of the abdomen, the rest of the sections focus on abnormalities and diseases in their respective sections. Each chapter contains a myriad of radiographic examples of abnormalities and some normality that is adequately outlined and clearly labeled for easy interpretation. The inside of the book cover contains the CD-ROM and will be regarded as a wonderful addition to the recommended reading area.
As with the other books in the Made Easy Series from Teton NewMedia this is an awesome book. It is very easy to transport and easy to interpret the examples they provide, definitely a book to be utilized again and again by those in clinical and radiological practice by technician, student and clinician.
