You may purchase this book on Amazon.com.

This book is designed so the reader may go directly to a subject animal and find the information contained within that topic, so one who reads the entire book may find some points repeated.

Opening chapters cover the history of ophthalmology, the pioneers of ophthalmology, and some of the notables in the discipline.

The first chapter, probably being one of the most common non-dog-and-cat pets, is the rabbit. Eye problems in rabbits are numerous and varied. Diseases and injuries are well illustrated with photos and drawings. Step-by-step procedures are illustrated in some cases, including "clinical signs" and "clinical management".

Some of the photos are dark, which may have been a color balance issue in the printing.

The first few chapters are divided by species: rabbit; guinea pig; ferret, rat/mouse. The following chapters contain a wider group divided into: other mammalian exotic classes; avians; reptiles; amphibians; and fish.

Listed within each chapter is the variety of diseases/common injuries for that species, plus information on the normal visual aspects and abilities. Some surgical techniques are illustrated using photos and drawings.

Throughout the book are placed educational tidbits of information not commonly learned in practice, and likewise, information is provided for those conditions which seem to be more common to the species, thus helping the reader to better understand his patient, and the disease etiology.

The book is geared to the diagnosis, surgical treatment and, management of eye disorders. Drug treatment is discussed where indicated.

This should be a valuable book for the clinic library and should be included in your purchases for this year.
