This anthology is the twelfth of a series of books that are dedicated to the methods of dealing with bio-safety, zoonotic disease-causing vectors and BSL 3 and 4 laboratory safeties and performance issues. The book is the product of thirty-one contributors as well as two editors riding herd on the whole project that have put together sixteen chapters on a variety of topics such as: Biological Risk Assessment, Laboratory Bio-safety Competency Development Training and Staff Management and Greening Bio-safety Laboratories, to name a few. This book is heavy on bio-safety and designed for veterinary technicians and researchers who work within these types of environments. The topics of this book are presented in the form of solidly referenced essay-style reports which are impeccable in terms of the information which is presented. In addition to the reference selections, the book is also supported by photographs which depict the use of equipment which many people may not be familiar with. The book is not one that veterinarians or veterinary technicians would utilize at all unless their career includes biomedical research with the accompanying issues and precautions. The essays would also be of interest to a veterinary technician student who was pursuing research on a topic related to biotechnology and bio-safety. For this reason, I feel this is merits a 3 out of 5 star rating.
