There is an abundance of new technology since the first VIN review of this book (2001), and changes have been introduced throughout the text. The book is directly aimed at the student and technician. Most of the numbers are in metric system, and in each case, the US units accompany the metric.
One new chapter assists the student/technician in the use of new technology and instruments. Larger and more detailed instrumentation is more affordable since the last edition, so instruction on newer techniques is included. Also included is a website where the student can go to obtain further information, photographs, and study questions from the authors.
Some illustrations of avian blood have been included, but basically for identification.
Instruments are illustrated with instruction on their use. Step-by-step illustrations show the test for antibody or antigen in serum. Good color photographs show the various cell types in various stages.
As before, the book is directed to the newcomer and is a solid, useful reference.
