Packaged in a sturdy free standing box these flash cards are a must for any educator involved in veterinary technology education as it pertains to surgery. There are 130 cards each representing a surgical instrument that is used in either general surgery or laparoscopic surgery. The picture is repeated on both sides of the card; one side is plain with only a picture for quizzing purposes while the other side has the same picture including instrument measurements, proper names and notes on what areas of the instrument to inspect for wear, tear and contamination.
Although not an item that a practitioner will find helpful in practice, I am convinced that technician educators will fall in love with these cards for teaching purposes. Veterinary technician students who are taking surgery classes, studying for state or national boards or preparing for a career as a veterinary surgical technician will also find these cards to be very useful in developing instant instrument recognition. This is definitely an item that should be in the reference library of any veterinary technician program.
