This book is designed as a review for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE). The book is divided into seven domains: Pharmacology, Surgical Nursing, Dentistry, Clinical Laboratory, Animal Nursing (further divided into four sections), Diagnostic Imaging, and Anesthesiology following the VTNE testing domain divisions. There are over 5,000 questions listed to help the reader prepare for the exam. The questions are based on the knowledge required to pass the exam which is designed for an entry level veterinary technician. This edition in regards to both format and content was revised from previous versions to reflect contemporary knowledge.
I have given several review classes for the VTNE and have used different review books; I have to say I really found this to be a useful and relevant text. The questions are very helpful in preparing students as to the type of questions they will be asked, as well as how in depth they need to study each subject.
I found the accompanying CD to be my favorite study tool. It lets the student take a mock exam, take questions subject by subject, or in study mode they are told immediately if they answered correctly and if not what the correct answer is and the reasoning behind it. I let some of my current students use this and have had nothing but positive feedback on it. I would highly recommend this text to anyone preparing for the VTNE. You will not be disappointed with this book!
