Written in a novel format, the book is a series of the most common questions that have been posed to the author over the years. The questions have been condensed from a variety of questions, as have the answers been composed from the author's years of experience. The author has painstakingly assessed the literature in order to provide the reader with the most current information distilled from a wide variety of sources.
The book is broken into sections (Canine Techniques; Canine Reproductive Physiology; Canine Reproductive Management; Canine Disease; Feline Techniques; Feline Reproductive Physiology; Feline Reproductive Management; Feline Disease; Pediatric Techniques; Pediatric Physical Examination and Management; Pediatric Disease).
The questions are listed in the Table of Contents to assist the reader who is looking for a specific answer. Many of the questions/answers are accompanied by color photographs, microscopic views, US views, or charts. Some of the radiographs might have been improved with the use of digital radiography, but for the experienced veterinarian, they are still readable. There are 100 questions addressed in the book, most of which would be useful to the practicing veterinarian regardless of his/her interest in theriogenology.
This book may not be used on a daily basis, but when one has a dog or cat in the exam room with reproductive issues, it will be a very valuable resource.
