Frequently Asked Questions

Will you share or sell my client and patient data?

No. VIN’s pledge to you: Your data is yours. We will never sell your data or use it for marketing. You control the use of your data to help you, your practice, and your patients, or to help advance veterinary medical knowledge.


Is there a contract to use PetTools?

No contract, start any time, end anytime.


Are there setup fees?

Nope, no setup fees. You can see the full pricing here.


Will my clients be able to view their entire pets’ records?

No. You control what level of information your clients see when viewing pet health history.


How often will you sync my data?

Depending on the internet speed at your practice, we can sync your data as frequently as hourly, or nightly if needed. Updated data will display in your clients’ PetSite shortly after your data has synced.


Can my clients unsubscribe from emails?

Yes, your clients can unsubscribe from all PetTools emails at once, or from specific types of emails alone. If a client accidentally unsubscribes from email, you can resubscribe them using your VetTools program.


What is the installation process like?

After a brief setup appointment with you or a trusted staff member, it takes us a few weeks to import and map your data. If you have a large database, we may ask you to copy it and send it to us on a hard drive provided by us. Once your data is imported and mapped, we will contact you to schedule a live online training session with you and your team members. When we’ve reviewed your settings with you and you’re ready, we will launch your PetTools service.

Does the text messaging cost extra?

There are no costs on your end to send text messages. Your client’s potential cost depends on their plan with their cell phone provider.


I have not heard about you guys until recently, how long have you been around?

We are part of the Veterinary Information Network (VIN) Family of Brands, started in 1991 and is home to over 55,000 veterinary colleagues.


Do you offer additional training?

Yes! We offer weekly open training sessions, typically midday. Anyone is welcome to attend, but if you can’t make it, we are happy to arrange additional private training sessions as needed for your practice.


Do you have any referrals I can speak with?

Absolutely; you can check out our Love Letters to start with, and then contact us and we will happily give you a list of users to ask away.


I’m already using a client gateway/email service. How difficult would it be for me and my clients to switch to PetTools?

Not difficult at all. The VINx team handles the bulk of the work involved in your installation, and we’ll even send out an email to your client base before the switch so they understand what’s going on and are looking out for their “Welcome to PetSites” email with their login information. What practice management software systems are integrated with PetTools?

PetTools service is currently fully integrated with AVImark, Cornerstone, Intravet, Impromed Infinity, and VIA. If you're not using one of these software systems, please contact us anyway. We'll be happy to get in touch if we can offer you full service in the future!
